Nvidia geforce experience says downloading driver but nothing happening

I simply went to device manager where I saw the yellow triangle next to the NVIDIA driver, right clicked, updated driver, search automatically, and it fixed the issue. I went back to the NVIDIA Experience app and it said everything was up to date and better yet, my HDMI port will now recognize my external display (which was my original issue. Nvidia Geforce Experience Can't Update So it says there are more recent drivers for my GPU and when i click express or custom install drivers (it doesn't matter which as it happens with both), it goes dim, the pointer turns into the processing circle and I can hear my HDD reading/writing. Since this issue is most likely caused by GeForce Experience, taking the alternative route may allow you to update your drivers with no problems. You can bypass GeForce Experience by downloading the GPU driver from the official Nvidia website. Before you do anything else, make sure GeForce Experience is completely closed.
